The name Victor Borge is recognized internationally as a musician and humorist. His lively wit and unique style enchanted audiences worldwide for over seven decades. One of Denmark’s most famous native-born sons, he was equally admired throughout his adopted America.
Janet Borge Crowle, one of five children of the late Victor Borge presents a program about her father, discussing those things that shaped his life both personally and professionally. Included are anecdotes covering his childhood, his musical training, fleeing from Denmark to America to escape the Nazi occupation, and highlights of his career. In addition Janet talks about family and life at home, and concludes her remarks discussing her father’s most noteworthy humanitarian efforts, which illustrates his personal commitment to sustaining strong ties between America and his homeland of Denmark, as well as all of Scandinavia. Interlaced throughout Janet’s talk are quotes from her father. Following her remarks, Janet will address questions.
Janet and her husband, Jim, reside in St. Michaels, Maryland where they enjoy retirement on the Chesapeake Bay. They have two children and five grandchildren.
