Show Description
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST Written by Oscar Wilde
Directed by Sarah Buckner
Oscar Wilde's most successful play, The Importance of Being Earnest, became an instant hit when it opened in London, England, in February, 1895. Dashing men-about-town John Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff pursue fair ladies Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. Matters are complicated by the imaginary characters invented by both men to cover their on-the-sly activities—not to mention the disapproval of Gwendolen’s mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell. Set in London and the English countryside during the late 19th century, The Importance of Being Earnest is a both a whimsical romantic comedy as well as a sharp-witted satire of Victorian society.
All remaining tickets for the current day's performance are released back to the Little Theater of Gastonia. Please contact LTG's Box Office directly at 704.865.0160 or littletheaterofgastonia@gmail.com for availability.
