Overview

Bakalao Stars, Charlotte's hottest and most energetic Latin band. Since 2002 Bakalao Stars has played at Charlotte clubs and helped organize the annual Carlotan Rock Festival of local Latino rock music. Their sound is a mixture of influences and genres that range from reggae to Latin ska and punk rock. Bakalao fuses these rhythms to create catchy melodies, which are performed with the highest level of energy and enthusiasm. Over the years, Bakalao Stars has become Charlotte's most popular Latin band due to their unique style, and their energetic shows. Critics define Bakalao Stars and their second album "soundcocho" as Bakalao Stars stirs up tasty musical stew(Grant Britt – Creative Loafing) The still thriving tropical ska-rock ensemble outlived the scene that birthed it. Bakalao has opened sold-out shows for multi-Grammy nominees and international stars such as: Los Amigos Invisibles, los pericos, Locos por Juana and inspector. Bakalao has also shared the stage with bands such as Sóniko, Papas Underground, Palo Viejo and participated on all the editions of carlotan rock. In July 2007 bakalao released its debut album, “PEGUELE AL TRIFASICO CON AZPERO SUMBEIN” and received its first official review by The Charlotte Observer’s and creative lofting, who gave bakalao debut album an “A”. Soundcocho has 10 energetic tracks that will make you dance. The album features Grammy winner Locos por Juana's lead singer "Itagui" in the new single "Verde". Also the reggae tune gitana features Ras-Congo.
