Overview
Originally performed in the Terezín concentration camp, this 35-minute musical story of a brother and sister’s triumph in defeating the bothersome organ grinder Brundibár is an allegory giving voice to the trauma of the Holocaust, still resonating today. This performance is the culminating event of Opera Carolina’s summer Music-Drama Workshop for regional teens and is in partnership with the Levine Jewish Community Center and Mosaic Arts. A paneled discussion to explore this work and its historical significance will be held following the performance.
