Celebrating Big Dreams: Starring Leslie Odom Jr. and Special Guests

“Celebrating Big Dreams”, an original show featuring Tony Award winner and Hamilton star Leslie Odom, Jr. kicks off Blumenthal’s 25th Anniversary celebration on Nov. 14.

“This evening begins a year- long party to celebrate the dream of building a performing arts center in Charlotte, and all the remarkable dreams realized in our first 25 years,” said Blumenthal President/CEO Tom Gabbard.  “We look forward to working with Leslie Odom, Jr. who will headline a remarkable evening of entertainment.”

The performance features Mr. Odom and special guests performing an array of music from Broadway, jazz and popular music.

A video created for the night will highlight the people and campaign to build the performing arts center, as well as a look back at favorite memories from the first 25 years.

Presented to the community by 25^th Anniversary Sponsors: Barings, Dale F. Halton Foundation, The Doctor Family Foundation and Wells Fargo, Celebrating Big Dreams will also feature some of Charlotte’s own stellar talent, with several former winners from Blumenthal’s acclaimed Blumey Awards  for Excellence in High School Musical Theater joining Odom to create a one-of-a-kind night of entertainment and a stellar opening to Blumenthal’s 25^th Anniversary Season.

A triple-threat talent, Odom is best known for originating the Tony-winning role of Aaron Burr in the original cast of Broadway's Hamilton and for his role in the TV series “Smash.” His recent self-titled album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz chart. Odom also performed this summer with the Boston Pops as part of its renown July Fourth celebration and was featured in the 2016 Kennedy Center Spring Gala. Broadway World says of Odom’s recent concert at the Straz Center in Tampa, Florida, “This is a concert that will entertain the young and young at heart as well as a cross section of music lovers who savor the silky tones of jazz, the energetic vibe of rap and the pleasure of just plain good music.”
