Overview

Celtic Thunder, the singing group from Ireland, who perform both solo and ensemble numbers. They debuted in August 2007 at The Helix in Dublin. Accompanied by the Celtic Concert Orchestra under the direction of David Munro, the musical director of the group, Celtic Thunder have become a household name all around the world, with recent ventures into Australia & South Africa.

With airing of their first Public Television special in 2008, Celtic Thunder consistently remains one of the most popular musical shows for stations throughout the US. Hailed as BILLBOARD's Top World Music Artist, Album & Imprint of 2009 & 2011, the phenomenon that is Celtic Thunder has achieved sales of over Two Million copies and 500,000 Ticket Sales to date. Their mass appeal and devoted fan base continues to grow with impressive statistics to prove it. Celtic Thunder's official YouTube channel, ""Thunder Tube"" has seen over 30 million upload views since the channel's inception in summer 2008.

Celtic Thunder live shows are known for dramatic effects via lighting and choreography as well as realistic Irish stage sets with authentic Irish instruments. The performances have dramatic solos, compelling ensembles, and comedic acts. Celtic Thunder is viewed by millions on PBS with record number of sold out shows. Celtic Thunder has performed on the CBS Saturday Show's Second Cup Café, the Today Show as well as the White House for President and Mrs. Obama at their St. Patrick's Day celebration as well as a Regular Guest on QVC.

Celtic Thunder has played such illustrious venues as the Nokie-LA Live in Los Angeles, Radio City Music Hall and the Beacon Theatre in NY, the Agganis Arena and Wang Center in Boston and has performed at the White House for President Obama, as well as functions for Irish Premier Brian Cowen, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, UN Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, the US troops of the 69th Regiment, and at the opening of a Boston Celtics in TD North Bank Garden game by singing the American national anthem!

Celtic Thunder is the brainchild of producer Sharon Browne and since its inception in 2007 has released 11 albums, toured the U.S. and Canada, coast to coast, eight times, and Australia three times performing at over 800 shows to date. Celtic Thunder has also been hailed as BILLBOARD’s “Top World Music Artist,” along with “Top World Music Imprint” and “Top World Album” of in 2008, 2009 and again in 2011. The Celtic Thunder official YouTube channel, “Thunder Tube” has received over 28 million views since 2008. Celtic Thunder is backed by the dynamic Celtic Thunder Band and their shows are known for the use of dramatic effects of lighting and choreography as well as a stage set resembling an ancient stone pathway suggestive of those referenced in Celtic lore.
