Overview
“Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!” In a rousing opening to the 2015 season, Shakespeare’s powerful history play comes to Uptown Charlotte. Against all odds, a charismatic young monarch confronted by the ferocity of war proves his worth as a man—and king. Henry V is Shakespeare’s rallying cry, celebrating the power of language to summon battlefields from thin air and ignite our souls to action. Henry V is an ensemble play. As is Shakespeare’s style, the story follows a variety of characters, French and English, high-born and low-born, through situations dramatic, comedic and romantic.
Shakespeare Carolina will present Henry V in the Duke Energy Theater at Spirit Square opening April 2, 2015. One of the most popular of plays written about the history of England, Henry V was first performed in 1599 and originally published in 1600. It is frequently revived both on stage and screen and contains some of Shakespeare’s most famous speeches.
Wednesday, April 08, 7:30pm is Pay-What-You-Can-Night.
