Join us for a JAZZ ROOM Special Edition performance this fall with a tribute to one of the legendary founders of smooth the jazz genre, Grover Washington Jr. played by renowned saxophonist Adrian Crutchfield. The Stage Door Theater is part of Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, at the corner of 5th and College in Uptown Charlotte. The JAZZ ROOM @ the Stage Door Theater in an intimate and casual escape to a place where classic and modern meets JAZZ.

THE JAZZ ROOM consists of two sets starting at 6pm and 8:15pm.

“Grover Washington, Jr. has been considered by many to be the founding father of smooth jazz and a master of the jazz funk genre, working as a prominent songwriter and talented saxophonist. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Washington made some of the genre's most memorable hits. These include "Mister Magic", Black Frost", and "The Best is Yet to Come".

Adrian Crutchfield is known around the world for his neo-soul sound – creating music in a variety of genres such as jazz, R&B, pop, funk, soul, hip hop, and fusion. His high energy show brings a diversity to jazz never seen before with music for every generation! Adrian has had the privilege of performing with many of today’s brightest stars such as Prince & The New Power Generation, Bette Midler, Lionel Richie, R&B icon Anthony Hamilton, Fantasia Barrino, KC and JoJo, Adina Howard, Regina Belle, and with hip hop superstar Young Jeezy. In jazz, Adrian has been featured by names such as Kim Waters, Mike Philips, Alex Bugnon,Jeff Lorber, and Branford Marsalis; and with legendary groups such as Fourplay and The Gap Band featuring Charlie Wilson.
