Overview

Formed in August 2012. With many years of collected experience, Run Engine comes together as a dynamic rock 'n' roll unit that generates earthy, genuine melodies and delivers a high-energy stage performance. The new Charlotte, NC band is fueled by the sleek-yet-comfortable songwriting of Andy Wood and boasts a powerful "Engine" that churns out their melodic efforts with hints of modern rock, americana, punk, and country. With a deep catalog of versatile songs that evoke dynamic styles ranging anywhere from Johnny Cash to the Foo Fighters, Run Engine plants itself firmly among the top of the "must see/must hear" list in the Charlotte area. The band features Andy Wood (guitar, lead vocals), Mike Scarlata (bass, vocals), Davey Kolk (guitar, keys, vocals), John Ehlers (drums). “Four songs from a new Charlotte band made by a handful of "not so new to Charlotte" musicians. When Southside Punx and No Anger Control drummer John Ehlers asked me to check out his new band I had no idea what to expect... was John joining another punk band? Surely this had to be a whole new monster... and I was pleased with the answer I got. This is a great rock band. Simply that. Excellent song writing backed by pro level musicians. This EP showcases the diversity in their style with a 90's alt-rock feel that also touches into the country realm and even has hints of Ehlers punk rock roots. Andy Wood's vocals rumble low and are accompanied nicely by bassist Mike Scarlata and multi-instrumentalist Davey Kolk's harmonies. A cool EP and a refreshing sound amidst the rising popularity of noisy throwback bands. It's nice to hear something genuine. Check out Run Engine.” (Crowd Surfer Magazine) "The Charlotte foursome drifts between hard charging guitar rock and radio-ready `90s style pop-rock that features jangly Tom Petty-like guitars and ample harmonies. Andy Wood’s deep Chris Cornell-meets-Darius Rucker baritone, which you might expect to find in a classic country song, threads through it all." Courtney Devores (Charlotte Observer)
