This Month's Featured Artist: Wey DaTheta

Wey DaTheta [Way Duh-THAY-tuh] hails from Charleston, SC where he works as a public school educator. Wey began performing in the Charleston area in 2010 and transitioned into spoken word performance shortly after as a staple artist with Courtnay The Poet's PrettyPeople Entertainment movement. Wey entered in his 1st slam competion in 2012 where he was handed his first loss by the late great Tavis P. Brunson whom affectionately told him at the end of the slam that he “looked like the saddest, sorriest Alpha he’d ever seen” and bursted into laughter.

Since then, Wey has remained inspired in developing his craft and can be currently seen performing and co-hosting the Smoking Word open mic at L'amore Lounge in North Charleston every 3rd Friday of the month.
