Overview

The blues quartet loves and plays the blues that grew out of the heat of the Mississippi Delta and blew through the windy streets of Chicago. They claim Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Jimmy Reed, the Thunderbirds. Bo Didley, J. Geils, Jr. Wells, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray as influences. The Instigators are: Smokin Rob Dayton - Harp/Vocals. Rob Spent a lot of summers living the blues in hot tobacco fields, then fell in love with the blues when he heard the wail of the harp. Most grabbed a guitar. But Rob grabbed a harp and never let go. Loves blowing thru a green bullet and a cranked up Fender. Robert "Buddy" Guy - Guitar/Vocalsis a Veteran of many bands but pulled into the blues after playing together with Rob. Master of the Stratocaster, Robert can play rhythm, lead and excels on slide. He loves Eric Clapton, Allman Bros., Muddy Waters and of course Buddy Guy. Keith "Keep On" Cummings - Bass/Vocals. Keith has been holding down the bottom in many Charlotte area bands for 30 years. He has played numerous styles from symphonic to jazz. Reggae to Rock. He even had a short stint with a Thai disco band. But today Keith is walking the blues with the Instigators. John Hartley - Drums, Top Cat Of The High Hat, John holds a sweeter meter in any style of music. Although he swears, he was born into a sharecropper family and lived in a little log cabin...No wait He was born in a van down by the river raised by circus gypsies...We know better and think he was born in a drum factory and inspired the following lines: "And he's up there, what's that? Hawaiian noises? Bangin' on the bongos like a chimpanzee. That ain't workin' that's the way you do it. Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free"
