Overview
Just in time for Halloween, PaperHouse Theatre returns to the Duke Energy Theater this Fall with a spine-chilling (one woman) show that tells the story of a young girl whose brother's death sets off a mysterious series of events. A captivating night of theatre for anyone (who loves a good scary story or) who's ever wondered how urban legends begin.
Written by Laura Schellhardt, The K of D premiered at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in 2008. The play follows the story of Charlotte McGraw, a 12-year-old girl who loses her brother in a tragic accident and gains a supernatural (lethal?) power. She quickly becomes a living legend in her small town, and the line between fact and fiction is blurred.
Truth: Before Charlotte's brother died, he kissed her. Legend: Everything Charlotte kissed from that moment on also died. One performer brings an entire town to life in a spooky story that explores loss, community, and how legends are born.
Matt Cosper, the Artistic Director of xoxo ensemble, is guest directing the Artistic Director of PaperHouse Theatre, Nicia Carla, who will be playing over a dozen characters throughout the course of this funny, creepy tale.
**Pay What You Can Performance - Wednesday, October 29th @ 8pm**
