Lou Aronne, MD

Weill Cornell Medicine, Sanford I. Weill Professor of Metabolic Research and the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Weight Control Center, a state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary obesity research and treatment center in the division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. Dr. Louis Aronne is a leading authority on obesity and its treatment. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Aronne is a founder and past chairman of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and a past president of The Obesity Society. He is a founder of Intellihealth, a weight management medical technology company and Flyte, a healthcare services company delivering high-quality medical weight management care.

John Buse, MD

University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Verne S. Caviness Distinguished Professor, director of the Diabetes Center, director of the NC Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute, and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dr. Buse currently works with a team of clinicians to deliver innovative patient-centered care and with the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Obesity Clinical Research Unit (EnDO CRU) to conduct multicenter and single-site studies in the prevention and treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus and its complications.

Fatima Cody Stanford, MD

Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Obesity Medicine Physician Scientist/ Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics. She was chosen for The Obesity Society Clinician of the Year in 2020. In 2021, she was awarded the MMS Grant Rodkey Award for her dedication to medical students and the AMA Dr. Edmond and Rima Cabbabe Dedication to the Profession Award. She is the 2021 Recipient of the Emory Rollins School of Public Health Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2022, the National Academy of Medicine selected her as a Scholar in Diagnostic Excellence.

Phil Schauer, MD

Pennington Biomedical Research Institute of Louisiana State University, Director and Professor of Metabolic Surgery. Dr. Schauer is formerly Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is past president of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). He is former Chair and founder of Obesity Week (2012-present) and Co-Chair of the Diabetes Surgery Summit (2007, 2015, 2019). Dr. Schauer's clinical interests include obesity, diabetes, and metabolic surgery. He has performed more than 8,000 operations for severe obesity and diabetes. His research interests include the pathophysiology of obesity and type 2 diabetes, and outcomes of metabolic surgery. He has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed articles on obesity and bariatric surgery.

Jennifer McCauley, MD

University of North Carolina Health, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics. Jennifer McCauley, MD is a practicing physician, board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Obesity Medicine.

She received her medical degree from the University of California (Keck) School of Medicine and completed residency at the Harvard Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Program. She works in primary care and serves as an embedded consultant in Obesity Medicine at UNC Health.

Obesity Treatment Clinic in Flagstaff, AZ, Owner, NP. Dr. Golden is a current fellow and past president of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She provides evidence-based obesity treatment. She earned OMAs NP/PA Certificate of Advanced Clinical Education and the Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education, an internationally recognized certification.

Ellen Lawrence, RD

Former University of North Carolina Physicians Network dietitian and current PhD candidate at Clemson University in Applied Health Management and Evaluation. She provided nutrition counseling and collaborated in forming UNCPNs primary care inaugural weight management clinic in rural North Carolina. Ellen is currently pursuing a PhD with a goal of doing implementation research in rural health.

Abbie Smith-Ryan, PhD

University of North Carolina, Department of Exercise & Sport Science, Department of Nutrition, Professor and director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She is an active researcher in the field of body composition, metabolism, sport nutrition and exercise performance, with a special interest in women’s health.

Theodore K. Kyle founded ConscienHealth in 2009. He is a pharmacist and healthcare innovation professional who studies and advocates for sound policy and innovation to address obesity with a special focus on objectivity, bias, stigma, and patient-centered care. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Obesity Action Coalition, advises The Obesity Society on advocacy, and consults with organizations addressing the needs of people living with obesity. His widely read daily commentary, published at ConscienHealth.org, reaches an audience of more than 15,000 thought leaders in health and obesity.

Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Rosser has held Professor of Surgery academic appointments at Yale University School of Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and at the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Dana is dedicated to educating people on how to support a loved one's challenge with obesity. Dana's unique vantage point offers comfort and understanding from the often-overlooked spousal/family members perspective. Her focus is to lead the mass of supporters out of seclusion, address their emotions, and help them navigate through the delicate issues of caring for a loved one who suffers with the disease of obesity.

A native of Akron, Ohio and a graduate of The University of Akron, and a certified bariatric coach, Dana is the author of “Thru Thick and Thin; Facing Obesity Thru the Eyes of a Loved One."
