Making Sense of COVID-19: Local infectious disease expert Katie Passaretti, MD will share some of her knowledge on COVID-19 and provide a live Q&A. A musical improv group will make us laugh during the second segment as they explore the woes and successes of dating during a pandemic. Tom Gabbard, BPA President, will wrap up the event by sharing what he has learned on rapid testing and how that could affect the arts.

About Dr. Katie Passaretti
Dr. Passaretti completed college, medical school, Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Disease Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. She worked as the hospital epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins Bayview before transitioning to Atrium Health to become Medical Director of Infection Prevention in 2011. She is an Associate Professor in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Atrium Health and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Passaretti is a member of the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America and The Infectious Diseases Society of America. She has served as frequent news contributor for local and national news including MSNBC, CNN and FOX. She was also recently named one of "In Style Magazine’s" Badass Women of 2020.

Meet Infectious Improv
Matt Curtis: Matt is a member and occasional host of SOS Improv, as well as one of the funniest guys we know. Matt’s not one of those insecure people who needs to put a lot of extra stuff in a bio just to show he’s talented. [This space available for rent.]

Cale Evans: Cale is co-founder of Queen City Comedy and the Queen City Comedy Experience, as well as the Global Improv Project and the Podcast from Hell. He also plays with Now Are the Foxes, Improv Charlotte, Bat Boys Comedy and more. What a show-off.

Kristin Jann: Kristin can sing, play too many instruments, act, and of course perform comedy, which she does with SOS Improv. Not only have her talents graced plays, musicals, and movies, she also co-founded local rock band 86 the Fish. Agents can contact her about a one-woman variety show.

Phillip “the Butcher” Lewis: Like Kristin, Phillip is also in SOS Improv and helped co-found 86 the Fish, in which he plays percussion. As the saying goes, anything Kristin can do, he can do taller. He’s also a master storyteller. If you get a chance, ask him about that one time in Charleston.

Ryan Sullivan: Ryan is a long-time musician and improv performer. You’d think he’d be better by now. He performs improv with Now Are the Foxes and Background Noise. He also plays lead guitar in 86 the Fish. His biggest feat? Convincing Dr. Passaretti to marry him.

Keith Williams: Keith is the founder of Better With Improv, a training company geared to help people of all backgrounds to better connect with their audience through improvisation. He performs with Mom’s Adhesive, as well as with improv groups around the world online.
