Of Earth and Sky

Overview

Take time this week to wander thru the city of Charlotte where you’ll find tokens of inspiration and poetic reminders of hope. This gentle experience, perfectly titled, Of Earth and Sky, is a large-scale installation of poetry, ideas and statements curated and installed across multiple locations in uptown Charlotte, forming a temporary sculpture trail through Center City - SEP 27 - OCT 31, 2021.

To create these installations, over 200 local poets, musicians and writers submitted their thoughts, hopes, frustrations and revelations about the previous year, a time of worldwide suffering, uncertainty and change. 

Of Earth and Sky creator, Luke Jerram has collaborated with Charlotte artist to create a chain of art that is equal parts outdoor sculpture and poetry.

Seek out the gigantic poetry murals in parks and public places across the city, finding inspiration in the words and perhaps discover new locations throughout a city that you call home.
