Overview

Pianos for Peace uplifts lives and transforms communities by engaging artists in volunteer service programs to make the arts accessible to all. Our dynamic programs bring peace to people in schools, healthcare facilities, nursing homes, refugee camps and communities around the world. We focus on the needs of underserved communities and partner with organizations that share our mission of empowering people to build peace through music and education. Pianos for Peace believes in the soft power of art, and that music unites people and nations through our shared human values of beauty, truth, and PEACE.

The colorful pianos will be available for anyone to play and everyone to enjoy throughout the city and will greet students upon their return to the Queens University campus. After the outdoor festival, all pianos are donated to schools and nursing homes in need, making the arts accessible to all.

The public will have a chance to see, play, and enjoy all the pianos between September 21 and October 4,when they will be on display in public parks and high-traffic locations throughout the city such as the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement, Trexler Courtyard on Queens campus, Camp North End, and outside the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. It is projected that Pianos for Peace will impact an estimated one hundred thousand Charlotteans and visitors this year.
