Overview

Join us for an advanced level pre-show improv workshop with Harrison Brookie called "Paradise Lost: Your Bad Scene was The Good Scene You Missed!" This workshop is on Saturday, August 11, from 4pm-6pm at the Stage Door Theater. RSVP is required!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was the suggestion and it was good. Then man and woman made simple choices and it was very good. Then those improvisers forgot the promises they had made and it was less good. They wandered off into a random garden looking for something funny and delicious and it was not good. Then they sat down in chairs, said "soooo", and started being mean to each other.

This story probably feels familiar (and not just from Sunday school). When scenes go well we can talk about them for days, but when they don't, it can be difficult to understand why. In improv scenes, it doesn’t take long before we begin to hate the choices we’ve made and start to turn on each other. This workshop will focus on initiating, spotting, and heightening scene patterns to ensure that all scenes are "good". Improv experience is required to participate.

Harrison Brookie is the Founder and Education Director of Alchemy Comedy Theater. Harrison began performing comedy with Clemson University’s Mock Turtle Soup in 2004.
