The musical moments that emerged from the end of the decade were all about bold new voices breaking out of the margins and being heard. Rolling Stone editors and critics discuss the emergence of a bold new kind of pop, the new school of hip-hop revolutionaries, and the innovative new artists whose homage to the greats before them only helped in expanding and defining the music lexicon for the next generation.
Rolling Stone Reports: The Year in Music features Brittany Spanos, a staff writer at Rolling Stone covering music, fandom and pop culture. Her most recent cover stories featured Janelle Monae and Cardi B. The evening also features Brendan Klinkenberg, Rolling Stone's music editor focused on rap trends and hip-hop everything. He worked extensively on coverage of the death of Mac Miller and the recent feature on Tekashi 6ix9ine, rap's super villain.
Pre-show introduction led by Joni Deutsch, podcast manger for WFAE.
