Overview

Los Angeles DJs Justin Warfield and Adam "Adam 12" Bravin formed the moody, Joy Division-inspired She Wants Revenge in 2003. A fortuitous combination of word of mouth, industry connections, and airplay on Sirius Satellite Radio and West Coast airwave giant KCRW provided the duo with enough exposure to snag a record deal with Geffen, resulting in a 2006 self-titled release that drew comparisons to Interpol, early Depeche Mode, and the Bravery, as well as their aforementioned eternally depressed post-punk heroes from England. After touring with Depeche Mode, they returned with 2007's This Is Forever. She Wants Revenge then issued two EPs, 2008's Save Your Soul and the following year's Up & Down. A tour with the Psychedelic Furs led the way for the band's third album, Valleyheart, in 2011.

The band recently launched Cloak & Dagger Dusk Till Dawn in LA as co-owner/founder of festival. f there's a unifying theme to Cloak & Dagger festival, it's the same theme as Adam's weekly nightclub concept in Hollywood of the same name: dark music. "It's all dark music from all genres, based on lyrics or mood," he said of the weekly party at the Pig and Whistle on Hollywood Boulevard, where only members can attend and attendees must dress in all black. Bravin is opening up the concept to the public with the launch of the two-day Cloak & Dagger festival at the Globe and Palace theaters in Los Angeles. Bravin said he conceptualized the festival with his agent Pete Anderson at APA, building an event "that mixes genres in the way that I mix the music at the club," he tells Billboard. "There are a few industrial and goth festivals that incorporate one hip-hop act or one dark house act, but there was nothing really mixing the genres in the way that we were imagining."
