Sounds on the Square is back to highlight the best comedians and musicians in the Charlotte area! Featuring clean comedy from Don Garrett to open the show and music from Vadim Kolpakov, this free outdoor event will have socially distanced seating for the first 50 guests on a first come, first served basis. Face masks will be required per state mandate. Alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase by card only (cash will not be accepted). Vadim Kolpakov

VADIM KOLPAKOV is a Charlotte-based, Russian-Romani (Gypsy) 7-string guitar virtuoso, vocalist, dancer, and artistic director of his touring and recording U.S.-based Gypsy music and dance projects, including the production of Gypsy Soul that was presented at the Blumenthal’s Booth Playhouse in 2019.

Being the lead musician of the Moscow Romen theater (1996-2004), Vadim comes from the famous Russian-Romani artistic dynasty of the Kolpakovs, which gave the world three generations of established musicians. Vadim has performed all over the world including tours with pop-star Madonna in her Sticky&Sweet world tour. More information about Vadim can be found at VadimKolpakov.com.

Vadim's performances wins the hearts of the audience with his lyrical and incendiary Gypsy style of music and dances that originated centuries ago in Russia and Europe, as well as world known hits arranged for the guitar. His music is enriched by the influence of jazz, Spanish-flamenco and classical styles.

Vadim’s set will feature famous world hits as well as original compositions.

Don Garrett

Don Garrett lives in Charlotte, NC. The Virginia native is the self-proclaimed "Chuff Daddy" of Comedy. His clean and witty comedic style is suitable for people of all ages. Named one of Charlotte’s Up-And-Coming Comedians to watch in 2017, Don captivates audiences all over the East Coast and beyond.

Don’s motto is "Laughter is an instant vacation." He loves every opportunity to provide a laughter filled journey.

Don has performed in various festivals and produced the Unfiltered Comedy Show in the 2019 Queen City Comedy Experience. Don has opened for Last Comic Standing winner Jon Reep. Don has performed as a stand-up comedian for over 3 years.
