The Jazz Room at the Stage Door Theater

Overview

After much-acclaim and sold-out performances, Charlotte’s Jazz Arts Initiative’s (JAI) monthly series—The Jazz Room @ The Stage Door Theater – is swinging into the summer on  June 15 & 16 with a special performance from Jazz At Lincoln Center trumpeter KENNY RAMPTON playing the music of jazz TRUMPET GREATS. The Stage Door Theater is part of Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, at the corner of 5th and College in Uptown Charlotte.

A Las Vegas native, trumpeter Kenny Rampton is a member of the internationally acclaimed Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra led by Wynton Marsalis. He has performed with jazz greats Lionel Hampton, Clark Terry, Slide Hampton, Illinois Jacquet, Marcus Roberts, Jon Hendricks, Christian McBride and many others. He also has numerous Broadway and commercial credits to his name. An avid supporter of music education, Rampton has established his own non-profit organization in Las Vegas promoting jazz education, live performance and advocacy. During summer 2018, Rampton appears as special guest clinician at JAI’s JazzArts Summer Camp.
