Overview

Chicago-based trumpeter Corey Wilkes re-imagines the music of jazz icon Miles Davis, and his innovative groove and funk sounds from the 1970’s and beyond.

Premiere Thursdays presents a fresh kaleidoscope of exclusively themed programming for one-night only.  As always, The Jazz Room provides a casual and intimate setting with tables and a full bar, reminiscent of the classic jazz rooms of yesteryear.

Corey Wilkes is currently soothing souls at some of the most renowned clubs and festivals in the world, where he has shared the stage with numerous Jazz Masters, including Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Marcus Belgrave, and more.   His soulful, sophisticated trumpet sound has received rave reviews on projects ranging from jazz to hip-hop.  He serves as an Artist in Residence for the Jazz Institute of Chicago.

Miles Davis  is considered one of the most innovative, influential, and acclaimed figures in the history of music. The Guardian described him as "a pioneer of 20th-century music, leading many of the key developments in the world of jazz."  Miles Davis was the most widely recognized jazz musician of his era, with eight Grammy Awards and 32 nominations.  He was an outspoken social critic and an arbiter of style—in attitude and fashion—as well as music."
